Ianua Roma is a quiet and spacious apartment located in a quiet area in the center of Rome, within walking distance from the Coliseum and most of the major city historical sites and attractions but at the same time enough distant from the chaos of the tourist area.
Located at the mezzanine and immersed in a wonderful garden, the apartment has been recently renewed but still keeping the fascinating details of a typical 1920’s residential building. It’s perfect for singles, couples and families with kids.
The apartment consists of a large king size bedroom with a convertible couch, two single beds, a comfortable and spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower.
The holiday home is located in the historical area called “Latino-Metronio” close to the San Giovanni Basilica, a short walk from the section of the Aurelian Walls that goes from Porta San Sebastiano (formerly Porta Appia) to Porta Metronia (formerly Porta Metrovia) trough Porta Latina. This is one of the best preserved section of the roman Walls.
Thanks to being very close to bus and subways stations and stops, the apartment is very well connected with two of the main railway stations (Stazione Termini and Stazione Tuscolana) and with most of the famous sites and monuments of the Eternal City, including the very close Catacombs of Via Appia-Latina.
The apartment comes fully equipped with maps, detailed tourist informations, and a selection of suggested stores, supermarkets and nightlife places and events. For your relax moments, there is a space dedicated to bookcrossing, plus books, movies and informational documents about the city. For the kids, we have provided a small selection of games, books and comics.
Upon request, we can arrange guided tours with professional guides. If interested please let us know in advance so we have the time to arrange everything.
The apartment comes equipped with free fast WiFi, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, emergency lighting and smoke and carbon monoxide sensors/alarm. Being located at the mezzanine, every window is equipped with a steel security grate (easily open from the inside) for added guest security. All the windows are also equipped with mosquito nets.
The heating system is fully autonomous, with a dedicated thermostat. Keep in mind that Rome’s winter climate is typically not very cold. At present time, there is no air conditioning, but we have equipped every room with fans. The typical thick walls of the 1920’s building make up for a fantastic thermal insulation even in the warmest days.
In the living room, we have placed at your disposal a flat screen TV, a DVD player and table games. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you may need to cook, including a selection of books about Italian and local recipes.
A washing machine and an hair dryer are located in the bathroom. Vacuum cleaner, flatiron, ironing board and clotheshorse are also included.
The apartment comes of course equipped with bed linen and towels, we also supply a small assortment of cleaning and personal hygiene products.
Right across the street you will find the Latin Market (open air) and a whole bunch of different stores where you can easily buy whatever you need.
The Latino-Metronio neighborhood is pretty alive both at night and during the day. Shops, markets and lots of small mom and pop stores carrying a diversity of products. At night, typical small Italian restaurants (“trattorie”), fine dining places, and other amenities are always at hand to fill your desires.
Within the neighborhood there is also the well known flea market in Via Sannio, and the shopping area of Via Appia.
Everyday life in the area brings you in full contact with several Basilicas (San Giovanni in Laterano, where the most ancient baptistery of Rome, Santi Quattro Coronati, Santo Stefano Rotondo and Santa Croce in Gerusalemme). Right after Porta Latina, the wonderful church of San Giovanni a Porta Latina and the burial ground named “Degli Scipioni”. All of this is within walking distance from the apartment.
Within 15-20 minutes you can reach by foot the Coliseum, the Circus Maximus, the Roman Forums and other historical places. Thanks to the very close bus and subway stations, almost any historical place in Rome is within easy reach.
A very suggestive tour that begins 10 minutes away from the apartment will walk you trough Via Appia Antica, some of the largest Catacombs and the archeological area of Cecilia Metella, not forgetting to pay a visit to the Museum of the Roman Walls within Porta San Sebastiano.
